If you are unsure about getting a mantis my advice is get one! They are low maintenance, facile to keep, can look after themselves when you go on holiday, require the humblest of accommodation, being carnivores produce the minimal of waste and just brilliant and impressive to watch.  They can be fed shop brought crickets and locusts (see links) or basically any living insect you find in your house/garden some can even tackle wasps and spiders with no problems.  Below is a list of what insects I keep in culture.  I am able to send live mantids by post to the UK and EU only.  I can post ootheca/eggs worldwide but its up to your discretion to check the laws of your country.  I guarantee live and healthy arrival of all insects.  To purchase a mantis or other insect it is best to e-mail me first (sales@kgbcameras.co.uk)  to check availability  (or alternatively phone alex@praying-mantids.co.uk however I can't accept payment by phone and it will be turned off when in laboratory/lectures and meetings), I will reserve the items for you and then you may send payment by post (cheque, postal order, giro, registered cash) or online through paypal (credit card, switch).  I supply a number of pet-stores and other trade outlets and can offer a discount of around 30%.  There are no minimal orders however remember postage costs (paypal will automatically add postage upon checkout, when paying by post please fill in and print the online form and remember to add postage at £1.50 for orders below £20 and £4.50 for orders above £20 which will often be sent next day registered.
